Thinking about your wedding hair style, soon leads to decisions about whether to wear some sort of bridal accessory for the big day.
Having done wedding hair and makeup for many years, I’ve seen some fashions come and go but generally I feel bridal hair tends to be quite classic. Alongside this, hair accessories also tend to fairly classic too.
Here are some ideas you may consider to complete your bridal look:
The tiara – looks great on a simple hairstyle.
A sparkly comb – nestled into an up do or half up/down style.
A side slide with rhinestones or pearls – a fabulous addition to a Veronica Lake 1940’s style, to sweep the hair back off one side of the face.
Fresh flowers – the perfect addition to a summer wedding and can be scattered into an up do to create a romantic feel.
Dried flowers – these can be attached to a comb and can look stunning for autumn weddings.
A hair vine – a wire which weaves it’s way over a hairstyle usually decorated with pearls and crystals.
A flower crown – a nostalgic feminine choice, perfect for simple hairstyles to create a romantic boho feel.
A bird cage veil – can be positioned on a jaunty angle with the lace veil covering one or both eye. Very vintage!
Lace – I love a simple ponytail or fishtail plait with a pretty piece of lace to finish it. Simple, elegant and feminine.
A veil – classic and traditional. You could also consider a shorter one depending on the style of your wedding dress.
At the hair and makeup trial many brides like to bring a hair accessory that they have already chosen. I always suggest that if they haven’t yet decided it doesn’t matter because usually the hairstyle will determine the best choice. At the trial a bride may be certain about the hairstyle but we will often try out a few things and sometimes we end up choosing something different than originally planned.
