An elegant spring wedding in the heart of Bristol

Livvy first contacted me earlier in the year to ask me if I was available to do her bridal hair and makeup for her wedding day in May. I was delighted!

She had decided she would love to have a hair and makeup trial with me ahead of the big day in Bristol so we booked a date in the diary for us to meet. Livvy came to me a few months before the wedding for us to explore what hair style and makeup would work best for her wedding day. We talked about the style of the wedding and the dress that she had chosen and we both agreed a soft romantic up do would be perfect for her.

I created her bridal hairstyle first and used a wand to give quite tight curls. Livvy’s hair is naturally straight, so we needed to slightly over curl it to allow it to softly drop to the perfect level of curls. I sectioned off the front and then created a swirly bun at the back. After tonging the front sections, I then carefully twisted and dressed these tendrils into the bun, whilst leaving a few fronds around the face and a few gently falling around the nape. Livvy had sourced some gorgeous flower and pearl hair pins which I used to decorate the bridal hair style.

Next, we talked about Livvy’s ideas for her wedding makeup. Livvy was very keen to explore a very natural look. As she is a busy working mum and doesn’t regularly wear a lot of makeup, we decided to keep it light. Livvy is naturally very pretty with delicate features, so didn’t need a lot of makeup to enhance her natural beauty.

I prepped her skin using ‘Hourglass Mineral’ primer. This is a fantastic base for bridal makeup as it really helps the makeup to stay on all day. I used a ‘Nars’ foundation to gently even out her skin tone. On her eyes I used Charlotte Tilbury cream eye shadow, in Oyster Pearl and dark brown eyeliner to add soft definition to her big blue eyes.

As the wedding took place in the spring, we hadn’t had much sunshine so I gently warmed her skin with a Laura Mercier bronzer.

On the lips we chose a gorgeous Mac lipstick called ‘Nippon’, which is a lovely fresh peachy pink shade and looked perfect for her spring wedding.
