I’ve been so lucky to have worked with so many wonderful brides over the years, and I am always very excited when I receive the professional photos back from the couple’s wedding day. Sometimes it’s a few weeks or months after the big day, and it’s always lovely to see those special moments captured in photographs. I recently received the photos from Sadie’s magical Bristol wedding last September, which was such a delight!

Sadie got married at Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol and her theme was inspired by the surroundings of the wedding venue. There was a romantic, ethereal style to the day, which was captured so beautifully in the soft golden light of late summer.

Arnos Vale Cemetery is an incredible wedding venue, with so much nature and a beautiful chapel on site. Steeped in history, the incredible cemetery boasts magical carved tombstones and ancient trees, which makes a unique venue, just moments from Bristol city centre.

I first met Sadie for her hair and makeup trial at my home in Bristol, just a few months before the wedding day. Sadie has the most gorgeous naturally curly hair, so it was easy to create the pretty bridal updo at the trial. I listened carefully to Sadie’s ideas for the wedding and her feelings about her hair and makeup.  She was keen to ensure that the look was fresh, natural and romantic, and entirely her. My aim is, as always, to help my brides feel like the best version of themselves on their wedding day. I designed a fresh, glowing makeup and a soft, relaxed hairstyle, which elevated Sadie’s natural beauty and was perfect for her wedding look.

At the trial I used the addition of a bun ring to create more volume for her hair style which I placed high on the top of her head. I then dressed her pretty curls around it. On the wedding day itself, I used an abundance of fresh flowers which tied in beautifully with the romantic, ethereal theme of the wedding. I left some loose curls gently framing her face to give a soft and relaxed look to the hair.

My personal style for bridal makeup is generally very natural. Sadie had chosen me as her wedding makeup artist as I love to create natural makeup looks, focusing on beautiful, fresh, flawless skin, a little eye definition and adding some colour where necessary, to bring the makeup design to life.
