It was with great pleasure that I was asked by Becky to do her hair styling and makeup for her autumn wedding at the beautiful Berwick Lodge in Bristol. Berwick Lodge is the perfect venue for a cosy and intimate autumn or winter wedding, it has such an inviting and luxurious atmosphere with open fires and candlelight.
I have always loved weddings at this time of year, as it’s a fantastic opportunity to explore more classic and glamorous bridal looks as we head into the colder months.
Becky has a very classic look and chose a beautiful long sleeve white dress for her wedding in November. I felt it really suited her and had a timeless elegance which was complimented with her hairstyle and makeup.
We decided a hair up look would work best for Becky as she wanted an elegant and easy style that would hold all day and would also be practical as she is the mother to little Nina.
As a hair stylist, I always consider the health of the hair and make sure that if I use heat, the hair is protected from drying out .I started the hair preparation with my favourite heat protector spray ‘Good Behaviour’ by IGK. This smooths and protects the hair ready for tonging. I then gently pinned the curls into a bun shape on the crown and decorated with gypsophila.
Becky has very clear skin and generally wears a light makeup, so we decided to keep the base very sheer. I used a tiny amount of Chanel Vitalumiere, sparingly around the t zone but left the rest of the skin beautifully hydrated with ‘Glam Glow’ moisturizer which has a lovely dewy finish. I also added a touch of ‘CoverFX rose gold’ drops to give a luminous glow to the skin. This is a great product and can be added to moisturizer or foundation to highlight specific areas of the skin or all over for a general luminous finish to the makeup.
On the apples of her cheeks I used a pop of pink cream blush by ‘By Terry’, which is super light and has some shimmer within the formulation. As a bridal makeup artist, I really love this brand as it’s perfect for brides wanting a natural looking, but flawless makeup.
I used Charlotte Tilbury eyeliner and a Benefit mascara to enhance Becky’s gorgeous dark eyes.
The lipstick was Becky’s own favourite red, which I absolutely love and think it really added to the glamour and elegance of Becky’s wedding look. It perfectly complimented her naturally pale complexion and dark eyes. She also had her nails done in a matching red which looked incredibly glam.
I think she looked absolutely stunning and I’m sure her new husband thought so too!
